Style Buzz: Sip & Seams + Resale Shopping + Styling Olive Corduroys

Three Ideas to Inspire Your Style This Week

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Getting dressed - properly dressed - when you’re not having a good day or just a blah one can totally change how you feel. You will have a good day when you look good. "

It's just a tank top, black jeans, and a casual blazer but add a strand of pearls and some lipstick, and I feel polished.

The thing that many people forget is that the "looking good" part doesn't mean dressing like you're headed to a wedding or gala. It can simply mean being a little more deliberate with your outfit, wearing the pieces that fit and flatter you, and taking the time to add accessories and proper shoes. That's all. You'll feel better because you're looking after yourself, which helps you overcome a not-so-good day.

POP UP CONSIGNMENT SHOP: SIP & SEAMS!

ree

If you've not heard of a pop-up consignment shop, you are in for a shopping delight! Sip & Seams is a stand-alone event in which a warehouse is transformed into a clothing resale space for a limited time, in this case for two long weekends. Community members prep and submit their own items for sale, and you'll find amazing deals and such a variety of clothes and accessories (jewelry, handbags, shoes, hats, etc). Pretty much any size, style, and label you can imagine, meaning you'll find something that makes you look good.

Buying gently-used clothing provides a positive environmental impact and contributes to a longer circular lifecycle of garments that still have a lot of life in them. Best of all, you're doing good and supporting your community as unsold clothing will be donated to Looking Glass Community Services. Everyone wins - especially your style!

Sip & Seams has expanded this year to two weekends for plenty of shopping opportunity. I'll be there helping as a quaintrelle on the 4th, 5th, and 6th from 10am - 2pm each day, so come see me and we'll find the perfect pieces for you!

I've got loads of other resources on my website for download, including lists of local boutiques, shoe repair, tailors, and clothing rental sites. Check them out for helpful info for local and online shopping, fixing, fitting, and recycling.

3 WAYS TO WEAR IT: Olive Corduroy Pants

I found these pants at a resale store in California and I love everything about them - a great silhouette, a fabulous color, and they're really soft and pettable! They are also very versatile and easy to dress up and down. I'm so grateful to whoever decided they were done with them because they've become an absolute staple in my own wardrobe.

Polished and pretty! The blouse has olive and tan in the print, which tie in the pants, shoes & handbag.

The muted pinks of the blouse and oversized sweater make a comfy and casual weekend outfit.

This is all about texture and shine, from the zippers on the jacket & blouse to the patent leather loafers.
