Style Buzz: Spring Colors + Lookbooks + Styling a Shift Dress

Three Ideas to Inspire Your Style This Week

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"I love this time of year - I can wear EVERYTHING in my closet because it could be 30 and snowing or 60 and sunny!"

Spring is a funny season in Oregon; we never quite know what it's going to be like from one day to the next, but it certainly gives you a few more opportunities to wear the winter woolies and sneak-preview chances to wear warm weather pieces - sometimes all in the same day! Whatever the temps, it's definitely layering weather, though.

SPRING 2025 COLORS

Spring is just around the corner! It's brilliant that "spring colors" no longer just means gentle pastels and delicate florals. Designers are happily incorporating bold colors that make the season a lot more dynamic (plus the colors are quite versatile and evergreen, and can be used throughout the year, not just Spring.) The names are fun, too!

(L-R) Moody Plum, Crisp Blue Cotton, Mocha Mousse, Citron, Clementine & Wispy Pink

Keep these in mind as you add new pieces or accessories to your wardrobe. It's an easy way to keep your wardrobe aligned with current looks while sidestepping a cut or fit trend that might not work for you, like low-rise jeans or cropped jackets.

STYLE HUB: Spring Color Pairings

It's so nice to see the daffodils and crocuses popping up and adding such pretty colors to the landscape. My favorite part is that they just don't care what other colors they're next to in a garden, and I often use that as inspiration when putting outfits together. Green and pink? Brown and orange? Khaki and peach? Why not!!

Looking for your own inspiration? Check out the Lookbooks on my Style Hub. These are curated collections for seasonal trends, gift ideas, and ideas for styling your wardrobe. You can click and buy directly from each lookbook, or use them as guides when shopping for pieces locally. I've posted a new one with Fresh Spring Color Pairings to help you bloom this Spring!

3 WAYS TO WEAR IT: Print Chiffon Dress

It's just a simple A-line shift dress but the fabric is fairly delicate so it moves and flows nicely. The material is light and airy, but because of the color palette, it works with both light and dark accessories, and can be dressed up and dressed down.

The print has browns in it, so the belt and suede boots complement those while letting the dress be the main feature.

A black moto jacket and black wedge booties turn a fairly delicate dress into something a little edgier (and warmer!).

A denim bolero is a little more polished version of a jeans jacket, especially when paired with strappy sandals.

HOW - AND WHY - I WORE IT...

I wore the dress to an immersive bridal event a few weeks ago. I needed an outfit that demonstrated my style, was polished and professional, but still very approachable. It also needed to be comfortable as I'd be standing for several hours while working and, because it was raining and humid but we were inside in an old building, I needed to be not too warm or too cold. That's a lot to ask of your clothes! But it's necessary when you're in those situations, and I went through several options before deciding this was the right tone and look. Here it is paired it with the black moto jacket, brown belt, and brown suede boots. Perfect!
