Three Ideas to Inspire Your Style This Week
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"I always buy multiples of a thing. Is that my style or is it a rut?"
As much as I dislike giving vague answers, the only way to respond to this client's question was with, "It depends!" If you're buying multiple blazers or stripey tee shirts in different colors, then they're your style, creating an identifiable look of your own. But if you're buying 6 pairs of the same cut and color of jeans, then that's a rut. You're just sparing yourself from having to do more laundry, not expressing your unique style.

THE NOT-QUITE-WINTER WARDROBE
(AKA DRESSING FOR THE DAMP)
This past week has been quite exciting, weather-wise! In true Oregon fashion, the sky says "I'm prepping for Winter," but the temps say "I'm not quite finished with the mild weather just yet." So how do you dress comfortably for the changing seasons without totally replacing your wardrobe?

This in-between season can be tricky, especially when the forecast says 59° but it feels like 48° thanks to the drizzle. You’re not quite ready for puffers and wool coats, yet linen and sandals feel like a distant memory. The good news? You don’t need to overhaul your wardrobe; you just need to winterize what you already have.
Start by layering with intention. Keep your lighter blouses and tees in rotation but add a thin knit underneath or a lightweight turtleneck over the top (yes, over. It’s having a moment).
Outerwear matters. Swap your cotton jacket for something that handles moisture better, like waxed cotton, coated denim, or a trench with a removable lining. Waterproof shoes or boots are worth pulling forward, but you can skip the full shearling for now. Leather or suede with a weatherproof spray will see you through these mild wet weeks.
Look after your knitwear. De-pill, wash, and reshape it now so it’s ready to wear on repeat. And don’t forget socks: merino or cashmere-blend versions that peek out the top make even ankle boots feel suddenly “seasonal.”
If you want to add a few fresh pieces without overhauling everything, look for:
A textured knit — ribbed, cable, or bouclé to add instant coziness.
A mid-weight coat in a classic cut (think camel, olive, or navy) that layers easily over chunky sweaters later.
Statement scarves that are big enough to wrap twice, with colors or patterns that brighten grey days.
Chunky loafers or lug-sole boots ground an outfit and look modern with cropped trousers or midi skirts.
It’s all about being prepared, not premature. Layer cleverly, keep your favorites in play, and let a few strategic updates do the heavy lifting.
3 WAYS TO WEAR IT: Stripey Tee Shirt
Stripes are a fun way to add some personality to an outfit, and even though a lot of my clients think horizontal stripes are a no-go, I love showing them now to wear them! They're a fun layering piece for mid-season temps while adding visual interest. I found this tee at Duluth Trading Co a few years ago and it's a perennial favorite.
Comfy and casual with jeans and a poncho, paired with neutral slides.
It polishes up nicely with a cardigan, pencil skirt, and some chunky loafers.
Perfect for errands or brunch when paired with an olive jacket and boots.
