Ideas to Inspire Your Style This Week!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"They're my summer go-to - I cannot live without them!"

I'm excited that summer officially starts on Sunday and I love seeing the different go-to's people have to help them cope with the weather. For my sister, it's sunglasses to protect her light eyes. For me, it's all about the hats. I love how they shield me from the sun and add a bit of interest to my outfits. And because I take the doors and windows out of the jeep for the summer, I need them to keep my hair under control when I drive. Whatever kind of accessory you always turn to, perhaps try a new version this summer that does what you need but in a more interesting way. Practical doesn't have to mean boring!

SUMMER STYLE GUIDES

Summer Fabrics

When temperatures rise, the fabrics you wear matter just as much as the clothes themselves. The right materials can help you stay cool, comfortable, and polished all season long. In this guide, I'm sharing the best fabrics for summer and why they deserve a place in your warm-weather wardrobe.

A quick overview:

Cotton: Best for everyday wear, casual outfits, travel, and warm-weather basics.

Linen: Best for elevated casual looks, vacation wear, workwear, and special occasions.

Silk: Best for dressier occasions, blouses, skirts, and evening wear.

Ramie: Best for structured tops, dresses, and lightweight summer separates.

Hemp: Best for casual separates, summer dresses, and eco-conscious wardrobes.

Tencel Lyocell: Best for dresses, blouses, wide-leg pants, and elevated basics.

Viscose: Best for flowy dresses, tops, skirts, and occasion wear.

Lightweight Wool: Best for summer suiting, workwear, travel, and polished outfits.

Summer Sandal Style

The right sandal should fit your life first and your wardrobe second.

You know, that's so important I'm going to say it again:

The right sandal should fit your life first and your wardrobe second.

While trends, colors, and heel heights may catch your eye, the most successful sandal purchases are the ones that support not just your feet but how you actually spend your days. Whether you're navigating a busy schedule, attending summer events, traveling, chasing little ones, or simply looking for polished everyday options, your lifestyle should be the guiding factor in every purchase.

This guide is organized by category, from versatile flats and elegant kitten heels to statement-making high heels, comfort-focused favorites, and the season's most on-trend styles to help you identify the silhouettes that best serve your needs. As you browse, consider where you'll wear them, how long you'll be on your feet, and what pieces already exist in your wardrobe.

The goal isn't to own more sandals.* It's to own the right ones that help you look stylish, feel confident, and get dressed with ease all season long.

*but I absolutely give you permission to go shopping if you want to!

ANATOMY OF AN OUTFIT

This is a peek into my favorite outfit of the week where I break it down for you: why I've put it together and why it works, what elements could be swapped out, things to consider, etc.

One of my other summer go-to's is a dress. They're so light and breezy in the heat, and so easy to put on! I found this dress at Sip & Seams last year and the color is fantastic. It's a pretty French blue, a shade that works with my skin tone. The fabric is quite polished, and the cut can work for both business and casual environments, depending on the accessories. Pairing it with white sneakers and a chambray shirt is such a different look than with a statement necklace and gold heels. But it works in between, too, like here with a cashmere cardigan (also from Sip & Seams!) and patent leather ballet flats. The dress is fitted at the waist and its high, slightly boat-neck neckline is a nice background to show off necklaces. The cardigan and shoes are similarly casual but polished, and the silver jewelry creates a cohesive, understated look.

Dress: Banana Republic

Cardigan: Loro Piana

Shoes: Aerosoles
